Former MEGADETH Bassist JAMES LOMENZO Laying Down Tracks For New HYDROGYN Album
February 19, 2010Hard rockers HYDROGYN are currently locked away in an undisclosed location in the snowy hills of Kentucky on a songwriting sabbatical working on their new album, "Judgement", to be released later this year. New to the fold is guitarist Jeff Young who brings his renowned shredding virtuosity as evident on the classic and fan favorite MEGADETH album "So Far, So Good… So What!" (Capitol Records, 1988). Jeff joins members Julie Westlake (vocals),Jeff Westlake (guitars),and New York-based KHZ drummer Joe Migz. Together, they plan to take HYDROGYN on a full-on global assault in 2010.
Sharing bass tracks on the album will be fretless six-string bass wonder Jake Wolf and surprise new addition, powerhouse bassist James Lomenzo, best known for his acclaimed work in WHITE LION, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and, most recently, MEGADETH. James will be making an appearance on a few selected songs, and is currently laying down bass tracks for the first single, "The Right Thing Now".
HYDROGYN is in the midst of tracking and writing for the self-produced album with the aim for a summer release. The first single, "The Right Thing Now", will be mixed with famed producer Michael Wagener (SKID ROW, METALLICA, EXTREME) during the last week of April.
You can hear HYDROGYN's cover version of the MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP classic "Assault Attack" on HYDROGYN's official MySpace page.
Julie, Jeff Westlake and Jeff Young will play their first acoustic show together in Cleveland, Ohio at Quaker Steak & Lube this Saturday, February 20 as part of a showcase for Julie's soon-to-be-released solo album.
